Utah’s Attorney General, Sean Reyes, Will Support FanX 2018 With A 24/7 Hotline

Our most recent posts have generated a lot of interest. We thank you for all of your feedback, both positive and negative, as it is your input—all of it–that helps us to grow as a community.  We encourage you to review those posts here and here.  In addition, we thought you might like to know a little bit more about what has been happening behind the scenes, too.

We’ll issue a press release with our formal announcements next week, but in the meantime wanted to share this update with you.

We’ve been working with Utah’s Attorney General, Sean Reyes and his office to create a 24/7 hotline for quickly reporting any inappropriate conduct or harassment at our events. Any reports will be initially handled and resolved by his office through the hotline, which may refer certain reports to our community council for further investigation, evaluation, and enforcement consistent with our policies. We want our Zero Tolerance Harassment Policy to be as strong and effective as possible, and we will not tolerate any bullying, abuse, assault, or harassment of any kind.

We are thrilled to be taking the protection of everyone at our events to an even higher level.  Our partnership with the Attorney General’s office is truly one of a kind, and underscores our strong commitment to these issues. It is our hope that with these steps and your help, FanX can serve as a leader both in the industry and community to make sure everyone knows that conventions should be a safe place, and harassment of any kind is not tolerated. We thank Attorney General Reyes for his care, compassion, and engagement on these and other important issues.

From now on we will continue to proactively seek and work with other experts in their respective fields for both our training programs and our community council. We have lined up important training with top community professionals that will be included in our press release next week. Regarding our community council, we are hoping to finalize those initial members early next month so that we will be able to announce more prior to our event happening this September. If you or anyone you know would like to apply for our council, please send a resume and brief statement of interest to [email protected]. As always, if you would like to contact us to discuss anything related to any of these or other topics, please email us at [email protected].
