American character actor and writer Wallace Shawn has one of those fun, mischievously homely, faces just made to entertain. Born to privilege on November 12, 1943, in New York City, Wallace was the son of renowned editor William Shawn of “The New Yorker” fame and educated at both Harvard University, where he studied history, and Magdalen College, Oxford. Wallace initially taught English in India on a Fulbright scholarship, and then English, Latin, and drama back in New York. However, a keen interest in writing and acting soon compelled him to leave his cushy position and pursue a stage career as both playwright and actor.
He has written and starred in a variety of unique stage productions and off-beat films, including My Dinner with Andre with Andre Gregory and Manhattan with Woody Allen. FanX® fans know Wallace Shawn for his role of Zek, the Grand Negus in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the voice of Rex in Pixar’s Toy Story Movies, Shorts, and Video Games, and as Vizzini in The Princess Bride. Shawn has appeared on dozens of shows, including BoJack Horseman, The Daily Show, ER, Family Guy, Phineas and Ferb, Stargate SG-1, and Ally McBeal.
He has voiced the principal in multiple animated features and series, including Principal Mazur in A Goofy Movie, Principal Fetchit in Chicken Little, and Principal Crosby Strickler in Teachers Pet. He will be playing Principal Miller in Cop and a Half 2, which is due to premiere in 2017. He is also starring in Animal Crackers with Sylvester Stallone, Ian McKellen, and fellow FanX17 Guest Tara Strong, later this year.
