Carrie Rogers-Whitehead is an information professional, college instructor, writer and self-proclaimed “geek.” She spent almost a decade as a librarian, working across sectors to increase literacy engagement. In that role, she led anime conventions and Yule Balls for teens and presented on geek culture and graphic novels for years.
Carrie is passionate about providing equitable access: whether that be through her role as CEO of Digital Respons-Ability, her work in the autism community or her community volunteer work and outreach.
Carrie believes that fandoms are an amazing path to literacy and education and summed up years of work in this area through her recent talk at TEDxSaltLakeCity. She hopes that Wizarding Dayz inspires others to learn and read more.
In her spare time, Carrie loves to read, with manga, nonfiction and anything Neil Gaiman at the top of her reading list. She is working to instill a love of reading and everything geeky in her young son
