E.B. Wheeler grew up in Georgia and California. She attended BYU, majoring in history with an English minor, and earned graduate degrees in history and in landscape architecture from Utah State University. She’s the author of eight books, including The Haunting of Springett Hall, Whitney Award finalist Born to Treason, No Peace with the Dawn (with Jeffery Bateman) and Utah Women: Pioneers, Poets, and Politicians (The History Press, November 2019). The League of Utah Writers named her the 2016 Writer of the Year. Her youth fiction is represented by Abigail Samoun of Red Fox Literary.
E.B. Wheeler is also the author of several award-winning short stories, magazine articles, and scripts for educational software programs. Her essay “Imperfect Instruments,” about life with a spinal cord injury, won the 2015 Segullah Award for Excellence in Creative Nonfiction.
In addition to writing, she also consults about historic preservation, and she teaches history at Utah State University. She has worked on projects for USU’s museums, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District’s Conservation Garden Park, and the National Park Service. She currently serves on the board of directors for the League of Utah Writers. She lives in northern Utah with her husband and children and a variety of pets and tries to run a mini mini-farm on a tiny suburban lot. If she had spare time, she would spend it playing the harp and hammered dulcimer, shooting archery, knitting, and working through her ever-increasing pile of to-be-read books.
