Award-winning illustrator Greg Horn, is best known for his Marvel Comics and DC Comics cover art. He arrived at Marvel in 1999 sporting a sensational new form of computer art that had never been seen before, ushering in the digital art movement which dominates the comic art industry to this day. Five years later he was recognized for his artistic endeavors, winning Wizard’s Fan’s Choice Award for Best Cover Artist. In the years that followed, Greg forged ahead in a variety of commercial industries, working on more than 20 international advertising campaigns, while providing covers for over 60 video game magazines.
Horn is one of the most prolific artists in the world, having worked in multiple industries for over a decade. From his unforgettable covers for MARVEL COMICS and DC COMICS to his colossal painting of the US OLYMPIC BASKETBALL TEAM for Allstate Insurance, it is not difficult to come across the artist’s work. He has completed assignments on more than 20 advertising campaign/ads in the United States, UK, Canada, The Netherlands, and France as a commercial illustrator, providing posters, illustrations and concept work for some of the biggest names in the industry. Greg has also made his mark in the video game industry as a freelance digital illustrator, artist, and designer. Be it high-detailed, packaging art design, print advertising, promotional art for posters, or point of purchase, Greg has done it all. His project list reads like a who’s who in video gaming including EA SPORTS (NBA LIVE), THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY, CAPCOM, SONY INTERACTIVE (EVERQUEST 2), ROCKSTAR (MAX PAYNE), UNIVERSAL STUDIOS (2 FAST 2 FURIOUS and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA), BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT, 2K GAMES (SERIOUS SAM 2), DIGITAL EXTREMES, IGNITED MINDS, 3D REALMS, and HIP GAMES. Additionally, video game magazine cover illustration has been a long-time staple of Greg’s career ever since he was hired on as the regular cover artist for FUTURE NETWORKS, providing punchy images for their best-selling publications: 100% PSM (PlayStation), THE OFFICIAL XBOX MAGAZINE, and PCGAMER.
This incredible volume of work was eventually collected into two art books titled Cover Stories: The Art of Greg Horn, and published by Image Comics. Beginning in 2014, Greg has seen remarkable success with exclusive variant covers, providing images for more than 40 of the most popular convention and store exclusives. Along the way, the artist has revitalized the niche market of remarked comic books with an inventive way of sketching on the unforgiving slick covers. His remarked comic books are among the highest auctioning modern day comics of all-time!
Greg’s most recent comic book work includes an amazing variant cover for DC Comics’ Dark Nights Metal, and another, Harley Quinn 25thAnniversary Special #1. Other recent projects include MARVEL COMICS’ Venom #1, Amazing Spider-man #1, Fantastic Four #1, Edge of Venomverse, Generations/ Legacy, Champions, and Avengers VS Zombies. His work has been acknowledged by Spectrum with entries in their annual publication, and also by Wizard Awards in their Best Painter category three consecutive years. Greg was inducted into the prestigious Society of Illustrators in 2007 alongside his heroes Neal Adams and Michael Golden.
