James Sabata is an author and screenwriter with a strong focus on the horror genre. He is the co-host of TheNecronomi.Com podcast, analyzing horror as social commentary.
James has been publishing horror stories and other short stories since 2010. He’s sold the rights to seven short films, five of which have won awards at various film festivals. The other two films are currently in pre-production.
His first novel, ZER0: Lancaster’s Greatest Supervillain, takes place in a fictionalized version of Sabata’s hometown in Nebraska. The story follows a supervillain masquerading as the hero. Exploiting his total control over the local media, the man under the mask lives out his superhero fantasies; scripting and directing events as he gains more control over Lancaster each day. But when Chris Thompson, a real hero, uncovers Zero’s secret, the villain spins the media to make Chris the most hated villain Lancaster has ever seen. With the line between good and evil blurred, Chris finds himself on the wrong side of the law; battling to save not only himself but the city that has been taught to hate him.
His second novel, FAT CAMP is a coming-of-age tale cleverly disguised as a slasher film in paperback form. It’s filled with blood, cursing, and gross teenage boys talking about gross teenage boy things. The story of an overweight teen trying to get past his own self-doubt, FAT CAMP offers humor, horror, and a little stab of nostalgia for anyone who grew up even slightly afraid of the dark.
A father of four, James currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona, where he is hard at work at making excuses of why he hasn’t finished his next novel just yet.
