Richard D.W. Bonaduce was born and grew up in the village (yes, a village) of Audubon, Pennsylvania, in metropolitan Philadelphia. Introduced to Star Trek literally as a baby, and to comics when he was ten, his geek credentials solidified in high school by also liking prog-rock and picking up drumsticks.
He also watched movies. Lots of movies.
Years later he moved west to attend Southern Utah University where he wrote the film reviews for SUU’s newspaper, becoming their Movie Guy. After graduating Cum Laude with a BS Communications majoring in both Journalism and Broadcasting, he eventually moved to northern Utah to become WB’s Wacky Weather Guy. When Utah’s WB became The CW, Rich became their Movie Preview Guy, but not for long. CW30 soon merged with KUTV, and Rich was brought over as a Promotions Guy. Still involved with the movie previews, Rich began writing the film reviews for the CW website, once again taking on the persona of Movie Guy.
After a brief stint with Talking Pictures, he’s now a member of the Utah Film Critics Association, Film Critic for Salt Lake Magazine, a “Rotten Tomatoes” critic, and resident Film Critic/Entertainment Reporter for KSTU/FOX13’s Good Day Utah. He also produces and hosts “Critical Mass,” a movie review show in the spirit of “At The Movies” soon to be made available through FOX13.
When not reviewing film, he still reads comics, still watches Star Trek, still plays drums with various bands such as “Mojave Rose” and “Jackwagon,” and is still a proud geek.
Rich is not available for games of pick-up basketball; he only looks tall on TV.
